Recovery care for active bodies

Treatment that helps you bounce back from hard training and stay off the injured list.

A quiet treatment room at One Kinetic

Hard training and brand-new training have one thing in common: both ask your body for more than it’s used to. Some soreness comes with the territory. It’s when an ache hangs around for weeks, or a shoulder stops moving the way it used to, that it’s worth getting looked at. Small problems caught early tend to stay small.

Keep training while you heal

You rarely have to stop everything to recover. Acupuncture helps your body do what it’s already trying to do: move fresh blood into worked tissue and settle the pain that makes you guard and compensate. Most athletes keep training through a course of care.

It also plays well with the rest of your routine. Strength work, physical therapy, your coach’s plan: we’ll time sessions around all of it, including competition.

Just getting started? This is for you too

The first months of a new routine are when a body complains the loudest. Muscles you forgot you had speak up, and old injuries sometimes wake up with them. That’s not a sign to stop. It’s the awkward stage everyone passes through, and a little support makes it far easier to get through. We’ll help you recover between workouts and keep new aches from turning into real ones, so the habit gets its chance to stick.

How we helpWhat happens in treatment

Most sessions combine needling with cupping. The needles get tight muscle to let go, and the cups pull fresh blood through tissue that’s been working hard. Soreness settles faster and stiff joints start moving again. You’ll also leave with a bit of movement homework, so the gains hold between visits.

Acupuncture anchors every session, but recovery is a team effort. Depending on the injury and where you are in your season, your visit might also include:

Common questions

"Can acupuncture help an acute injury?"

Often, yes. Once a physician has ruled out anything serious, early treatment helps bring swelling down and gets healing moving. If the injury just happened and looks bad, get it checked first.

"How soon before competition should I come in?"

Many athletes come in during the days before an event to loosen up and top off their recovery. Tell us your schedule and we’ll plan sessions around it.

"Do you work alongside my PT or coach?"

Gladly. Acupuncture fits right alongside physical therapy, chiropractic, and strength programming. Loop us in and we’ll make sure everyone’s pulling in the same direction.

"Surfing taught me everything I know about recovery. The ocean doesn't hand out rest days, your body demands them. I treat athletes the way I'd want to be treated: get me strong, get me right, and get me back out there."
