Barbara is a California Board Certified Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine who blends ancient healing modalities with a modern, movement-based perspective. She completed her Doctorate of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Five Branches University in Santa Cruz. Her practice is built on the philosophy that good health is a dynamic state of being, requiring a balance of clinical expertise, proper nourishment, and a deep connection to one’s environment.

With a background as a yoga teacher and a birth and postpartum doula, Barbara offers her patients a truly integrated experience. Barbara provides specialized care for women at every stage, with a particular focus on fertility and postpartum support. Her goal is to empower women to feel strong and supported as they transition into and through motherhood. Barbara provides hands-on, compassionate advocacy for families; she bridges the gap between clinical TCM treatments and real-world needs of the fourth trimester, ensuring her clients have the physical and emotional resources they need to thrive.

Barbara also works with athletes of all levels to optimize recovery, enhance physical performance, and manage acute or chronic injuries. She commonly uses multiple tools including acupuncture, trigger point therapy, herbal formulas and manual therapies like tui na (Chinese medical massage), and gua sha.

When she isn’t in the treatment room, Barbara is likely found embracing the active lifestyle she encourages for her patients. As a mother to an energetic 18-month-old, she finds her greatest joy in playing outdoors and exploring the world through his eyes. A true lover of the California landscape, Barbara is a regular in the Santa Cruz surf lineup and on hiking trails. Whether surfing, hiking, skiing, or tending to her garden, her connection to nature and the outdoors is a vital part of her own wellness ritual.
